SAA to assist stranded SA Express passengers
South African Airways (SAA) has come on board to assist passengers left stranded by the grounding of SA Express.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced on Thursday that the cash-strapped SA Express won't be allowed to operate due to safety concerns.
SAA spokesperson Tlali Tlali says the three partner airlines will assist stranded travellers.
"What has happened is that the three partner airlines SA Airlink, SAA and Mango have come together to put a plan that is intended to assist SA Express.
"This is to ensure there is recovery to assist the passengers who may be stranded at various locations who need to fly out of Johannesburg to their final destinations or to anywhere, to any point where SA Express flies from into Johannesburg to connect to their final destination," he says.

A final flight schedule will be published on Friday.
"But beyond that we will publish and issue a schedule that indicates the extent to which the three partner airlines will be able to come on board and operate the slots where SA Express would ordinarily have been able to operate."
"We will issue that information with specific details with the flight numbers as well as the time at which each flight will operate," Tlali says.
