Capitec 'on track' to refund customers following computer error

Capitec Bank said on Saturday morning it was on track to refund customers who experienced double-deductionsn form the bank accounts on Friday.
"Obviously it had a big knock-on effect on out systems when Nedbank double-deducted from our clients," said the bank's Charl Nel.
However, he said customers should have received full refunds during the course of Saturday morning.

He said the error was caused by a computer technical error and not a hacking incident.
He would not disclose the amount of money involved, but said: "because this time of the month a lot of people buy from retailers the number were quite high."
