Would you share ice cream with your dog?
Updated | By The Workzone with Barney Simon
Footage of a woman eating an ice cream cone after her dachshund has licked it has divided the internet.
Pet owners take their responsibility of keeping their dogs and cats well-nourished very seriously. After all, it is common knowledge that a pet with a balanced diet is a pet with a happy heart.
It is also natural to want your pets to eat as well as you do - but does that mean you should share whatever is on your plate with them? The debate about feeding dogs "human food" has gone on for quite some time, and now a video showing a dog eating an ice cream cone has raised concerns once again.
People who saw the woman letting her dachshund have a few licks from the ice cream cone before she continued to eat it are confused by her behaviour. Why would anyone eat the same ice cream that their dog had slobbered all over?

Aside from the question of whether dairy is good for dogs, there is a concern about whether this is advisable behaviour on the part of the woman.
Some believe that there is nothing wrong with what the woman did: she is simply showing kindness to her dog and sharing her treats. Others are not convinced that pets and their owners should be sharing food like this, citing possible bacterial infection as one of the risks.
