When firefighter Nick Plancich reported for duty at The Remington Club, a senior living community in San Diego, California, he did not expect to be roped into a surprisingly tough game of ping pong by a 101-year-old woman.

After Nick and his team were satisfied that the emergency that they had been called in to assist with was taken care of, he spotted Marjorie Harford playing ping pong by herself. The fire captain encouraged Nick to join the game and Marjorie was happy to have a willing opponent.

The match was caught on camera, which is a good thing: there needs to be proof of such an incredible moment. Marjorie, who stood on her side of the court and served just as good as she got from Nick, does not give the impression of being a frail old woman at all

Marjorie says she and her family have been playing ping pong at home for years, and she keeps it up now because she enjoys the physical challenge: "It keeps me active, otherwise I’d be sitting in a chair doing nothing".

The moment between Nick and Marjorie left a great impression on everyone at The Remington Club, who praised Nick for spending quality time with the people he helps: "It warms our heart not only that they respond to emergencies but care for our residents at a deeper level".
