The lead vocalist of 90's alternative band The Stone Temple Pilots and 2000's superband Velvet Revolver, Scott Weiland, has been found dead on his tour bus with his new band.
As part of the voice of a disgruntled generation of alternative vocalists in the 90's, Scott Weiland and his band The Stone Temple Pilots sold a good 10 million albums of their first two releases "Core" and "Purple" - all at the height of Nirvana and Pearl Jam-mania.
Weiland's battle with drugs was also well documented during this time and led to various stints in and out of rehab. Details are unclear about the cause of his death at this stage, but he was found to have died in his sleep on the tour bus with his current band, The Wildabouts.

In 2003, Weiland joined the supergroup Velvet Revolver, which had been formed by former Guns N Roses band members Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum, along with Dave Kushner formerly Jane's Addiction.

Weiland was a multi-faceted singer-songwriter, often praised for his rich baritone.
