Emeritus Desmond Tutu turns 84 today.
Though things have not been easy for the Arch, with him being in and out of hospital due to inflammation, his family has assured the country that he is recovering well at home.
Birthday wishes have been flooding in on social media, starting from the late hours of Tuesday.
Amongst those who have wished Tutu a happy birthday and praised him for his role in fighting for peace in South Africa, is President Jacob Zuma.
”Archbishop Tutu has been a tireless and visible ambassador of our country all over the world for decades, promoting human rights and justice. He continues to be a beacon of hope who is highly regarded by the South African people. I would like to wish the Archbishop Emeritus a happy 84th birthday today and may his health continue to improve, ” Zuma said.
Apart from President Zuma's birthday wish, some of South Africa's celebrities have also wished Tutu a happy birthday too.
