Police officer hailed a hero after breastfeeding neglected baby
Updated | By The Workzone with Barney Simon
Celeste Ayala went above the call of duty to help a malnourished baby at a local hospital.
A police officer in Buenos Aires, Argentina proved that mother always knows best, even when she is out in the field.
Cele Ayala was stationed at Sister Maria Ludovica Children’s Hospital for the night, where she saw the staff working hard to try and meet all the patient's needs. When a six-month-old baby, who had clearly been grossly neglected, was brought in, the overworked nurses all handed him off, saying he was smelly and dirty.
Officer Ayala, noticing that the baby was not going to get the attention he needed, asked to hold him and take care of him while the nurses continued with their work.

Officer Ayala, a mother herself, knew instinctively that she had to breastfeed him: "I noticed that he was hungry, as he was putting his hand into his mouth, so I asked to hug him and breastfeed him."
Officer Ayala's friend Marcos Heredia shared a picture of the selfless moment, saying: "I want to make public this great gesture of love you made today for this little baby who you did not know, but for who you did not hesitate to act like a mother. You did not care if he was dirty or smelly, which is what the hospital staff called him. Good job mate."
Marcos's picture has been shared over 100,000 times on Facebook and people have praised Officer Ayala for her incredible love and kindness.
One friend of hers commented: "I didn't expect any less from you! You are not just a great woman, but a great mother."
