Dogs with a high chase or prey drive can develop a habit of chasing reflections, lights or shadows. It's safe to say that seeing a dog running around trying to catch something can be quite amusing at first.

For New Yorker Dina Avino, her dog's game of chasing its own shadow lasted up to two weeks! See how the dog repeatedly jumps at the shadow, determined to catch it once and for all:
Dina finds it amusing, but dog experts would disagree about encouraging this type of behaviour. Endless aimless chasing could lead to severe frustration in the dog, causing it to act out or, if the shadow chasing continues over a prolonged period, to develop an obsessive-compulsive disorder.
