Baby swan and chihuahua are an unlikely pair of best friends
When Rob Adamson first discovered an abandoned swan, he could not have predicted the beautiful bond that the bird would build with his pet chihuahua.
Boatyard worker Rob Adamson wouldn't dream of passing up the opportunity to raise a cygnet.
The baby swan was left for dead after a larger bird attacked it and its family near a river in Cambridgeshire, where Rob works and lives. Rob, not wanting to leave the young bird's life to chance, took it in and took great care of it.
It has only been one week since the baby swan was rescued, but it has already bonded with Rob and his pet chihuahua Sophie. Rob named the cygnet Sydney and says it follows him around on shopping and kayaking trips.
While Sydney certainly loves being close to Rob and enjoys cuddling with him at night, it is the dog Sophie who has become the swan's best friend.
Rob says: "They are quite happy with each other and run about together, playing. I love watching them storm around the office having the times of their lives."
Dogs and swans are not often paired as friends, but it is clear that Sydney is one of a kind and loves his new family.
