Alligator headbutts Florida man, knocks him out cold
A member of an alligator trapping team was knocked to the ground by a restless alligator in Florida. He did not sustain any major injuries.
People who live in Florida are accustomed to seeing alligators in their homes. Each year at the beginning of spring, the alligators become more active, leaving the water and coming onto land.
Experts say most smaller alligators are being pushed out by their larger counterparts, forcing them to go out in search of food and a new habitat elsewhere. Alligators are also known to get restless during mating season.
Residents of areas with a high alligator presence know not to approach the animals under any circumstances. Instead, they are urged to call professional alligator trapping teams who will restrain the animal and set it free in the water.

That is what this small group of alligator trappers from Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was doing before the alligator, clearly agitated and not ready to leave the residence, struck out with its tail and its head, injuring one of the men.
The alligator, whose legs and mouth are tied up, is hauled onto the back of a bakkie. The men are about to close the doors and drive away when the alligator, still writhing wildly, lifts its head and strikes one of the men standing nearest to it. He falls to the ground, apparently unconscious.
The alligator continues to lash out at the other trappers, falling out of the bakkie in the process.
Thankfully, the man who was hit in the head recovered with no major injuries. The alligator was taken back into a nearby lake.
