Many hands make light work indeed...
The amount of litter that riddles our oceans, rivers, and plant life can be overwhelming. But to see groups come together to help save our flora and fauna, is truly admirable.
One such group, Sungai Watch, is cleaning up one river at a time starting in Indonesia.
And their videos on social media of their clean up efforts leave us astonished as to the amount of rubbish and plastic that people fail to dispose of properly.
One video that really shocked us was of a mangrove forest in Bali, Indonesia. The mangrove was infested with plastic, so much so that it was restricting the plant life from growing.
The mangrove is just 10 minutes away from the Bali International Airport. After making this discovery a year ago, the clean up efforts took 100 people two months.
They collected over 150,000kg of plastic and dirt and installed barriers to catch the overflow of dirt. With the help of the Indonesian army, they managed to clean up the mangrove successfully.

People were amazed by their efforts in this particular instance and went on to share their encouragement.
Some asked whether the barriers put in place will be feasible and also expressed their concern about the return of the litter.
But Sungai Watch shared that the barriers are there to prevent the river getting worse, and serves as a catchment for the dirt.
They also said: "We are also working on awareness campaigns and more long term waste management solutions with the government to make sure as little trash as possible comes back." (Instagram)
