Scientist receives personalised Barbie made in her honour for International Women's Day
A wonderful way to celebrate women in science...
International Women's Day is a day that allows us to celebrate women from all walks of life.
And it is positively something that helps young women see that anything you want to achieve is possible.
One woman who has been celebrated this year is British scientist, Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock.
"Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock, best known for presenting BBC One’s The Sky At Night, has been made a 'Barbie Role Model' in recognition of her achievements in making space and science accessible to girls." (Independent)
The doll was created by Mattel and is a spitting image of Dr Aderin-Pocock.
“Since falling in love with the idea of space travel as a young girl, I have spent my career trying to show girls how fascinating space science can be. I want to inspire the next generation of scientists, and especially girls, and let them know that Stem (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) is for them," she told Independent.
