Parenting quotes you wish you'd heard before today
Updated | By The Workzone with Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp
Sometimes all we need is some perspective...
It can be overwhelming to parent in the most ideal way all the time.
Because everyone has their good and bad days, but it's what you make of it that matters.
And, ultimately, the most important thing is making sure your kids' well-being is taken care of. Everything else comes second.
It is due to these ever-present pressures that we found these parenting quotes so useful.
Not only did these give us perspective, each one helped us realise that you don't have to feel the pressure of getting it right according to the societal expectations.
But rather work on getting it right based on what feels right as a parent. Our unsolicited advice is that we have to follow our gut, because parenting is definitely something that we are built for.
Here are the seven quotes that resonated with us, courtesy of Instagram:
Let them hear: Say, "I'm so proud of him, he really worked hard on that project, and it shows."
Let them see: Say, "I had a hard day at work. I'm going to take a walk to calm down."
Let them feel: Say, "Oh, I see what you mean. I bet it's frustrating. Would you like to talk about it, or would a hug feel good now?"MORE FROM JACARANDA FM
Let them speak: Say, "Thank you for sharing this and helping me look at it that way. It's important for me to know how you feel."
Let them try again: Say, "How about we create a checklist together and put it somewhere you'll see it every day, like on the fridge? This way, you won't leave your homework at home again."
Let them feel seen: Say, "Tell me more about that game you're playing. It looks so interesting!"
Let them be: Say, "I love how energetic and creative you are."
Which one of these did you resonate most with?
