A mother who shared that she spends just R1000 a week on her family of four, has started a page to help other families save.
When moms get together to share their savings tips, which is very much a necessity, it definitely becomes a party.
With the rising costs of raising a family, it can be anything short of miraculous when you can set a budget and stick to it.
One mom, Kate Walters, posted how she spends just R1,000 a week on toiletries and food for her family of four. The Facebook post was inundated with responses with people asking her a very important question... How?
Being a stay-at-home mum, Kate decided to start a blog, Savvy Spending with Kate, and an Instagram account sharing her tips and tricks.
And it's a welcomed piece of help for many mothers across South Africa. She shared some valuable tips in her first blog which she entitled: 'How to save money on Holiday'.
In the blog, some of the important practices she commits to include; meal planning, using loyalty points, packing your own lunch for work and school, and, most surprisingly, leaving home with a full tummy.

You never really understand how budgeting for your expenses can assist until you actually do it. This way you can plan for things and always save.
Searching for weekly specials doesn't hurt either, and signing up for rewards/loyalty programmes always helps you save a buck here and there.
And with certain retail groups, you can use your points for purchases too. That certainly helps when something unplanned comes up.
We guess planning for a rainy day is always a good piece of advice too. Check out Kate's Instagram page here and watch out for some great tips.
