The cute love story of a nun and a monk who got married

It is rare to hear about those fairytale love stories that are actually real love stories. 

But when we do hear about these love stories, best believe that they are life changing. 

In this case, it was a love story between a nun and a monk.

Sister Mary Elizabeth always knew she wanted to be a nun and joined the Carmelite order - an ancient order of the Roman Catholic church - at the age of 19. 

Though her parents were not very religious, she developed an "overwhelming" love for the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus. 

Twenty-four years after becoming a nun, it was a brief meeting with a monk by the name of Robert that jolted their love story.

"It was our first time in a room together. We sat at a table as he ate, and the prioress didn't come back so I had to let him out. As she let Robert out of the door, she brushed his sleeve and says she felt something of a jolt.

"I just felt a chemistry there, something, and I was a bit embarrassed. And I thought, gosh, did he feel that too. And as I let him out the door it was quite awkward." (BBC)

Not long after their encounter, Robert contacted Sister Mary Elizabeth asking her if she would leave to marry him. 

The two faced lots of trials and tribulations in honour of staying true to their hearts. 

But through all the challenges they found solace in one another. And they have found that their love is stronger because of their dedication and love for God. 

"Lisa says they both agree there are three of them in the marriage.

"Christ is at the centre and comes before everything. If we were to take him out of the equation, I think it wouldn't have lasted really." (BBC)

These two are true examples that love stories may not always follow a particular formula, but somehow they work out if they are meant to be.
