POLL: Should Lady Gaga have consulted with David Bowie's family for her Grammy tribute?

While many praised the outlandish Lady Gaga for her tribute to the late glam rock icon David Bowie at the 2016 Grammys, Bowie's son seemed to not share the positive vibes all over the internet.

The controversy that tends to stir when younger artists pay tribute to legends is something that's all too familiar.

Nina Simone's daughter, the Broadway star Simone was openly against Hollywood actress Zoe Saldana portraying her mother in a biopic stating she would have preferred Viola Davis or Kimberly Elise play her since they had 'the right look and know their craft.'

Controversy also arose over the portrayal of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela by Oscar and Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson in the 2011 movie Winnie Mandela, with Winnie noting that neither her nor her family had been consulted on the project.

Earlier in 2016, glam rock icon David Bowie's passing was felt in so many parts of the entertainment and arts world.

With artists ranging from grunge rock icons Nirvana, hip-hop impresario P. Diddy, modern glam icon Marilyn Manson, David Bowie has influenced so many including the likes of Lady Gaga, who paid tribute to him at the 2016 Grammys.

Interestingly, Bowie's son the filmmaker Duncan Jones tweeted this over Gaga's performance:
