DETENTION GETS TAKEN TO NEW HEIGHTS
Rian takes detention to new heights / Jacaranda FM.

Last week The Scenic Drive Driver, Quinton failed his first challenge for 2019. He had to answer questions from the Business Studies Grade 12 final 2018 exam paper.

He was only able to obtain 33%. A mark that is unacceptable for the Scenic Drive team.

As punishment, Rian and the team then decided to send Quinton to 'detention'. Baring in mind that Quinton has an immense fear of heights, Rian decided that Quinton will have to spend an hour detained in a small area, 30 meters in the air. That’s 8 stories high.

We had a cherry picker parked outside the Jacaranda FM studio in Midrand - right next to the highway - and Quinton took his punishment like a pro!

To help Quinton cope with facing his fear of heights, Rian asked some experts in dealing with heights for some tips.

Andrew Steer:

Andrew is part of an events company called Out Of The Box Events that have been doing dinners in the sky as well as other extreme events for years. They do a variety of extreme events, that often involve heights. The dinner in the sky takes place at 40 meters and Andrew says they often get customers who are afraid of heights. He, himself, does not have a fear of heights.

Marco Vargas: Trapeze artist and performer

Marco was introduced to the world of Cirque training and performance at the age of six in his home country, Chile. At the age of thirteen, Marco enrolled at the Circo Del Mundo. He spent his years on the training program specialising in Acrobatics and Chinese pole, as well as training in dance, theatre and trapeze.

Carl Isernhinke: Financial Advisor and Trapeze artist

Carl Isernhinke’s background and training lie in the finance sector where he began as a derivative and quantitative analyst for an actuarial consultancy. Cirque is for Carl a great escape from the rigidity of the financial sector. When not crunching numbers, Carl can be found training in cirque arts and performance at The CIRK. He is an accomplished aerialist, specialising in trapeze, and has experience performing for local as well as international audiences.
