Venetians continue to eat pizza during city floods
The city of Venice in Italy is in the midst of the worst flooding the region has experienced in six years - but that won't stop citizens from enjoying a good pizza!
The people of Venice, Italy are accustomed to the flooding that accompanies the annual period of heavy rain and high winds. The city has portable pedestrian bridges on hand to help commuters get around the city when water levels reach over 40 inches (approximately one meter), and Venice's water bus service does halt during particularly severe periods.
This week Venice has seen the worst rain, wind and flooding since 2012. The famous St. Mark's Square is covered in waist-high water, but businesses in the city have not stopped operating. Patrons have been wading into one pizzeria determined to enjoy the famous Italian food despite being surrounded by water.
Waiters wear rain boots while they carry up to three pizzas around to the tables. Patrons wait patiently for their meals, not worried about the water level at all. The kitchen is buzzing as a few more patrons walk in and request a table.

It seems Venetians are so used to dealing with floods that business owners and patrons alike have learned how to keep their heads cool and continue with their daily activities despite the inclement weather.
But is the pizza in Italy really so good that people would leave their homes in the middle of a flood to go and get some?
