Sivert Klefsaas' mother challenged and paid him over R26,000 to stay off social media until his 18th birthday. Klefsaas spoke to Danny Painter about this challenge and what it did to him to stay off social media.
Sivert Klefsaas was challenged by his mother to stay off social media until he turned 18 - and would pay him over R26,000.

His mother, Lorna Klefsaas, saw how much pressure it takes for teens to be on social media, and decided to challenge her son.
Since turning 12, his friends mostly kept him up to date on what was going viral and who posted what on social media.

He previously said that it was tough to feel out of the loop sometimes, but he believes not having social media gave him more time to focus on school and sports.
When he turned 18, he immediately signed up for an Instagram account and received the money from his mother.

He believes it was worth it and would do it again.
"My friends showed me what happened on social media but I never had my own accounts."
