Takeaway Wednesday: Braaibroodjies
Jaco Duvenhage's braaibroodjie recipe will add the perfect finishing touch to any braai.
This week on the Scenic Drive, Rian set out to find the best braaibroodjies in the Jacaranda FM broadcast area. Many of our listeners responded, but only one received an overwhelming number of votes.
Jaco Duvenhage of Rietvalleirand, Pretoria makes a mean braaibroodjie. He graciously shared the list of ingredients that he uses to prepare the dish.
Ingredients
- White bread
- Onions
- Tomatoes
- Cheese and biltong spread
- Chutney
- Mayonnaise
- Salt
- White pepper
Jaco wanted to make sure he served the freshest braaibroodjies possible, which is why he cooked them at the Jacaranda FM studios - on his own braai stand!
Method
Spread a thin layer of butter on each slice
Mix cheese spread with chutney; smear on one slice
Spread mayonnaise on the second slice
Fill with tomato and onion mixture and cook.
The team remarked that the sandwich was "delicious, but not overwhelming". A winning recipe, indeed.
