#Straatbraai cancelled due to coronavirus outbreak

The Department of Health on Sunday confirmed 13 new cases of coronavirus in South Africa - bringing the country's tally to 61.

Seven of the new coronavirus cases are in Gauteng, while the Western Cape recorded five and KwaZulu-Natal one.

To date, South Africa has the highest number of coronavirus infections in sub-Saharan Africa. 

No deaths have been recorded so far.

The coronavirus pandemic has now infected around 150,000 people worldwide and killed more than 5,000, according to the World Health Organization.

President Cyril Ramaposa and his cabinet decided on some measurements to prevent the spreading of the coronavirus: 

• Travel ban on high-risk countries from March 18.
• South African citizens to not travel to high-risk countries.
• Gatherings of more than a 100 people are prohibited.
• Large events and celebrations are cancelled.
• Schools closed from Wednesday, 18 March until Easter weekend. 

Due to the spreading of the coronavirus, Jacaranda FM and the Scenic Drive team decided to cancel the #Straatbraai in 677 Glossoti Street in Garsfontein, Pretoria.

Basic protective measures against the coronavirus, according to the World Health Organization: 

• Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.

• Maintain social distancing (1 meter)

• Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth

• Practice respiratory hygiene

• If you have fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, seek medical care immediately
