SARS IT officer's bizarre interview gets house music 'remix'

A week later, we're still processing the SARS chief of digital and IT's bizarre interview the best way we know how: with a house song.

If you watched SARS chief of digital and IT Mmamathe Makhekhe-Mokhuane's interview on SABC's Morning Live several times trying to make sense of her garbled speech, you were not alone. South Africa was in a frenzy trying to figure out not only what Makhekhe-Mokhuane was saying, but also why on earth she had been sent to give an interview she was clearly not prepared for.

South Africa loves an on-air blunder by a government official (remember the Nhlanhla Nene interview where the erstwhile Minister of Finance broke and fell off of a plastic chair?) but there's one thing we love even more: a good house song.
Soundcloud producer Daaf Vapor combined both in an electro-house number he is calling "Can you give me protection from yourself?"

The song takes the latter part of Makhekhe-Mokhuane's speech and loops it over a frenetic house beat. You can't help but bob your head and tap your feet as the chorus comes in.

Keen internet users may be reminded of another house remix in the same vein, that one dealing with Julius Malema's outburst during a 2010 interview, called "Bloody Agent".

It's good to see that South Africans still approach the news cycle with the same enthusiasm and humour as always.

Will you be downloading Daaf Vapor's song?
