Photos of graves beneath the Vaal Dam have shocked many South Africans.
Photos of graves beneath the Vaal Dam when the water level is low have been doing the rounds on social media.
The Vaal Dam is South Africa's second-largest dam - and what lies beneath the dam has shocked many South Africans.
The Vaal Dam was constructed in 1938 and lies 77 km south of OR Tambo International Airport.

According to reports, photos collected by eGSSA (Geological Society of South Africa) show the graves of Jacobus Johannes Meyer, who lived between 1861 and 1893, and Jacobus Frederik Janse van Vuuren, who died in 1928 - ten years before the dam was first completed.
As the levels of the vaal dam are dropping old Graves are starting to be visible. So that dam was built on top of Graves so in essence we have been drinking dead people water here in Gauteng🤔😭😭😭
