A liquid nitrogen experiment went horribly wrong on live TV

An Australian morning talk show host nearly lost her hearing after the incident.
There is a large number of safe experiments that amateur scientists can have some fun with. A popular one - because mini explosions are always a sign of a great experiment - involves mixing a fizzy drink (usually Coca Cola) with liquid nitrogen. The two components react and cause a foamy explosion.

The hosts of an Australian morning show, Studio 10, learned the hard way that the simplicity of an experiment does not erase its potential dangers. If you are not careful, something could go very, very wrong.
Footage shows one of the hosts, Natarsha Belling, asking Jacob Strickling (a popular scientist who was on the show to promote his latest book) how she should hold the bottle that contains the mixture. In the next moment, she appears to do the exact opposite of what he said, causing an accident:
There were no severe injuries, but Natarsha does complain about not being able to hear anything in her right ear.

Hopefully this is not a permanent injury. This should teach anyone who was watching never to absentmindedly attempt science experiments at home.
