Japanese woman wins big at World Air Guitar Championships

These days there are more and more hobbies that get to championship level. Anything that you can do in your spare time can be turned into a competitive sport, which is wonderful news for anyone who missed the chance to be part of a prize-winning sports team at school. 

That's why news of the existence of the Air Guitar World Championships should come as no surprise. The organisation prides itself on its internationally recognised trademark and actively spreads "the ideology of the Air Guitar" which they believe will bring us closer to world peace.

Still, it is interesting to think about the kinds of people that would take part in such a competition. How do the judges decide who will win? Do contestants have to perform as part of a "band"? 

Japanese air guitar enthusiast Nanami "Seven Seas" Nagura clearly prepared the perfect formula to impress the judges. She took to the stage and rocked out like she was on tour with one of the world's greatest rock bands. Her passion and energetic choreography certainly helped to set her apart from other contestants. 

Speaking after her victory, Nanami said: "I am so happy. I can't believe this."
