Annemarie Bates showed off her home cooking style with her unique twist on the well-loved classic spaghetti bolognese. Follow the recipe below to recreate the dish.
Annemarie Bates loves to entertain her family with fun recipes for dinner every night. She gives each dish a unique name in order to keep everyone on their toes.
Her take on spaghetti bolognese, a recipe which she and her family call "beesballas en ou skoenveters", thoroughly impressed the Scenic Drive team.
Here's how you can recreate the dish.
Meatballs
o Lean mince
o chopped onion
o chopped parsley
o garlic cloves
o breadcrumbs
o eggs (lightly whisked)
o Italian spices
o Salt, pepper, paprika, chilli, and steak and chops spice
For the sauce
o tomato and onion mixture
o fresh parsley
o Italian herbs, salt, pepper, paprika and chillies
o Mushrooms
o Spaghetti or macaroni of your choice
Instructions
Mix meatball ingredients and shape into balls. Place the meatballs in an oven-proof dish. In a separate pot, add tomato and onion mixture, finely chopped mushrooms and a little bit of water. Mix together over low heat; add the spices. Pour the warm tomato mixture over the meatballs and cover the dish with foil. Bake in the oven at 180 degrees for 30 minutes.
Shave parmesan over the meatballs before serving with cooked pasta and a glass of red wine.
