Hijack attempt foiled by BMW's indestructible windows
Updated | By The Scenic Drive with Rian
Hijackers in Morningside, Johannesburg targeted the wrong BMW this time.
Times may change but, for the most part, hijackers use the same modus operandi: smashing a driver's windows in order to gain control of the car. It's the reason many drivers opt for the best smash-and-grab reinforcements for their vehicles. However, if a car thief is determined to take your car, their weapons can still break through your windows.
But a recent attempted hijacking is raising questions about just how advanced window reinforcements are getting. Three robbers approached a BMW driver in Morningside, Johannesburg and were shocked to find that the car's windows were indestructible.
A man in red attempts to break the car's driver side window with no success. The driver only hesitates for a second before continuing to drive into the Johannesburg complex.
The three men make a run for it, likely stopping as soon as they are out of sight to ask themselves, "what on earth were those windows made of?"
That's the question people were asking themselves after viewing footage of the attempted hijacking, which was captured on 3 October 2018.
These would-be hijackers are not likely to return to the complex after this embarrassing attempt.
