On Wednesday, Philicity Reeken lost her 17-year-old nephew after he committed suicide.

Jacaranda FM's honest host, Philicity Reeken, and her family are facing an emotional rollercoaster after her 17-year-old nephew committed suicide. 

Reeken opened up about the heartbreaking news they received on Wednesday afternoon.

"I'm just so sad that he felt hopeless and unloved that he chose death. He was only 17. He wanted to be a chemical engineer," she says.

"I want people to know that people that are in pain do not always show it. The fact that he ended his own life to stop the hurt shows exactly how bad it was."

"He was a beautiful, kind, humble and sensitive soul. We love him."
