Four-day work week trial underway in Ireland

Three-day weekend? A six-month experiment has been launched by the Four Day Week Ireland campaign aiming to deliver positive results for business and work/ life balance for employees.

Twenty companies have signed up for a six-month pilot to trial a four-day workweek in Ireland. The trial is organised by the Four Day Week Ireland campaign.

Director Joe O'Connor said that he hopes it can act as a template for pilots elsewhere.

The campaign will test the effectiveness of a four-day working week, with no loss in pay for employees, beginning in January 2022.

Organisations will receive support, training, and mentoring on how to make the four-day week work. The Irish government will also fund research to assess the economic, social, and environmental impacts of the campaign.
