Florida man transforms into a real-life mermaid
Updated | By The Scenic Drive with Rian
How
far would you go to live out your childhood dreams? For Florida resident
Christian Riel, the answer lies in the £1,120 he spent on a custom-made mermaid
tale.
Christian Riel, a resident of Florida, tells Metro that he has admired 'The Little Mermaid' since he was a child, and that the Disney princess inspired him to find what would fulfil his desires: “Disney’s Little Mermaid made me discover my love for the ocean and the sea.”

Christian decided to take his love for Ariel and for the ocean one step further by purchasing a custom-made mermaid tale. He enjoys the way the tale enhances the experience of being in the ocean, saying: “Wearing [the tail] makes you so much faster and it’s just an awesome feeling of liberty.”

Christian does, however, admit that swimming with the tail puts a strain on his ankles, and staying underwater for extended periods of time hurts his eyes. But this will not stop him from practicing the hobby.
Christian is determined to live life as a merman, taking guidance from the online community of mermaids and mermen.
Would you ever go this far to transform into one of your childhood heroes?
