Crayfish cuts off own arm to escape steamy pot
Updated | By The Scenic Drive with Rian
Footage from a kitchen in an unidentified region of China shows a crayfish escaping a steamy pot by chopping off its own arm.
Due to the naturally present harmful bacteria in the flesh of shellfish that multiplies once they are dead, lobsters and other crustaceans are best cooked alive.
This is an unfortunate fact, but it is not something that seafood lovers often dwell on.
After seeing this video, that might change.

Footage posted on Weibo, a Chinese social media platform, shows a crayfish audaciously escaping being boiled alive.
No, your eyes are not deceiving you. The crayfish just chopped off its own arms and limped away from the boiling water.
The footage is from a Chinese hotspot restaurant where a man named Jiuke had ordered a large batch of live crayfish to cook. At the table, one crayfish acted quickly to escape its fate.
Jiuke so admired the crustacean's tenacity that he took it home with him and is now raising it as a pet in his aquarium.
And don't worry about the lost arm: the crayfish will be able to grow another fully functioning one in no time at all. Isn't nature amazing?
