'Cheesemonger' might be the best job in the world

They say if you do what you love you'll never have to work a day in your life. Is that true for people who spend every day eating what they love?
People who are able to combine work with a hobby or a passion of theirs are very fortunate: they are able to make a living while doing what makes them happy.
Many people strive to achieve this happy balance. After all, why not make the work that you spend most of your life doing into something deeply fulfilling?
When asked what the "best job in the world" is, many people might name something that requires minimal effort but yields maximum rewards. Something like watching TV for a living, or spending your day cuddling with dogs. Many would mention something food or drink related. It is interesting just how many people want to replace the concept of work altogether, and opt to "relax for money" instead.

Unfortunately, we can't all be so lucky. For most of us work is work, and fun is reserved for the weekends. That means a lot of people would be jealous of Ned Palmer, who is a successful affineur.

But what on earth is an affineur? The simple answer is: someone who knows a lot about cheese.
In December 2000, Ned tasted a fresh Gorwydd Caerphilly cheese and his life was changed forever. He immediately became obsessed with finding out how to make something that tasted so good. Today, he is the owner of The Cheese Tasting Company in Greater London. He eats, makes, and thinks about cheese every moment of every day, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
Ned loves keeping up with what is happening in the cheese world and especially enjoys introducing people to new flavours: "There's a moment when someone tries top-quality artisanal cheese for the first time. Seeing the expression of wonder and joy on their face is life-enhancing".
But does an affineur (or "cheesemonger", as they are also known) ever get tired of eating cheese? Ned says no: "I never get sick of eating cheese. I enjoy it as much as when I tasted it for the first time. I'm happy all the time".

At The Cheese Tasting Company, Ned creates unique cheese tasting experiences for corporate clients. He spends his days spreading the joy of cheese.
It appears Ned has found the perfect job: he does (and eats) what he loves all day, every day, and makes a living off it.
