Cape Town tween pushes her limits for charity

In August 2017, Jacaranda's Carla Mackenzie interviewed a then 10-year-old Abriella Bredell about her plans to swim the Robben Island Channel. 

Abriella, already a dedicated swimmer since the age of seven, spoke confidently about her ability to take on one of the most difficult open-water swims in the world:

This morning, just about four months after the initial interview, Abriella completed the 7,5 km swim in Cape Town. This means that she has accomplished her goal of raising funds for and drawing attention to her favourite charity, The Red Cross Children's Hospital. 

But Abriella will not stop at this feat. She is still urging those who would like to continue donating to the cause to come forward:
