We are all aware of how important it is to take some time out from the fast pace of our everyday lives. Whether it is family issues or work-related stress, there are many things that affect our levels of happiness.
Johannes Bertus de Villiers, author of Kalmte in die malle gejaag, shared five quick tips for getting and staying happy.
According to Johan, it's as simple as:
- Find a pet to hug
- Set your phone to grayscale - it will decrease the amount of time you spend staring at the screen
- Be aware of all your senses and appreciate everything that you can take in
- Set a specific amount of time during the day where you just sit and do absolutely nothing - it will help you to refocus
- Cut down on alcohol and caffeine
