Tim Wilson, a member of Australia's House of Representatives, reaffirmed his love for his partner Ryan Bolger with a public proposal during a debate.
On Monday, 4 December, Australia's House of Representatives came together for a final debate on whether the Lower House would accept the bill that legalises same-sex marriage.
This past November, an overwhelming number of Australians voted in favour of same-sex marriage in a postal survey.

During the debate on 4 December, Liberal MP Tim Wilson stood up to make a speech affirming his position on legalising same-sex marriage.
After stating that the fight to pass this legislation makes up the fabric of his relationship with his partner Ryan Bolger, Tim looked up into the gallery and asked Ryan to marry him:

The proposal was met with an enthusiastic "yes!" from Ryan and applause from the House.
Tim and Ryan have in fact been engaged for nine years. However, a moment like this, where the bill on same-sex marriage is likely to pass as easily through the House as it did through Senate, is a wonderful opportunity for couples to reaffirm their love.
