Are you a man who loves to knit?

A group in San Francisco is working to remove the stigma around men who enjoy knitting.
Knitting has enjoyed an enduring popularity as a pastime that is as creative as it is productive. Over a period of just a few months, a dedicated knitter could have a jersey or a scarf to show off to friends and family. Up until now, the image of a knitter that you have had in your mind has probably been that of an old woman sitting on a rocking chair, right?
But there are men who love to knit, too. That was what prompted Lakegan Harris to start SF Men Knit, a group for men in the area who want to get together with other male knitters to share in the joy of the hobby.
The aim of Harris's group is to create a safe space for men who love knitting to come together and socialise. He has found that SF Men Knit gives its members the freedom to enjoy the hobby without feeling judged for liking something that is "feminine".
Harris also mentions that SF Men Knit has helped some of its more introverted members to feel more confident interacting in public.
The men who go to SF Men Knit use the group as a way to disconnect from "the digital stuff" that usually takes up so much of their mind space.
Are you a man who has tried knitting before? Tell us about this or any of your other "unconventional hobbies" in the comments below.
