Worst parenting advice from parents who've heard it all before
Updated | By The Workzone with Mack Rapapali
If you're a parent you've probably been on the receiving side of unwarranted advice.
When you become a parent, you're guaranteed to receive advice from anyone and everyone. This guidance can range from semi-helpful to totally useless to absolutely mindboggling.
As a father to a 3-year-old, Mack says he is lucky he has not been on the receiving end of these unwanted tips and tricks from other parents. Is it just a dad thing? Are moms the unlucky ones that have to deal with other moms passing on their stories.
We asked a few parents to share their bad advice stories, and this is what they had to say:
Gerda: "The worst ever, was when my son was just over a year and struggling to sleep through the night, a friend told me to leave him to sort his own sleeping routine out."
Sinethemba: "Don't hold the baby as much, let them self-soothe."
Boledi: " I have received some interesting unwanted tips from other parents like babies are always cold, wrap them in multiple blankets, to being told to sedate my baby for a long trip."
Charis: "My 2 year old still likes to get up at night to drink a glass of water or have a bottle of juice or milk. When I told a friend of mine she said 'Do not wake your toddler at night for a feed. You will spoil the child'."
Parents love to share their "wisdom" — but some they should keep to themselves. What's the worst parenting advice you've ever received?
