Why public toilet seats have a U-shape

Many people have
wondered what the purpose of the design was, but it turns out to be very
useful.
A TikTok video explaining why some public toilets have a U-shape has been doing the rounds on social media.

In the video, it is explained that the U-shape of toilets can actually be mandated and it serves some major sanitary functions.
One of the functions is that it provides a gap in the toilet seat so that people’s nether regions do not touch the front of the seat.

The other function is equally useful, and that is it allows you to wipe without having to touch the front of the seat.
