What matters when buying a gaming computer?
Updated | By Mornings with Mack Rapapali
In this podcast, we're discussing what matters and what doesn't when you're buying a gaming pc.
I spoke to Rean Pelser about all things gaming and how to set up as a first-time gamer and this is the information gathered.
In terms of getting set up for gaming, the basics you need will be a screen, mouse and keyboard, headphones, or speakers and of course the pc tower.
It’s a daunting task, putting together a gaming rig for the first time, but it doesn’t have to be difficult. If you know what to look for, and where to look for it.

In terms of the tower or the brains of the whole operation, you have your basic components such as the CPU or processor, the RAM, the graphics card and then also your hard drive for storage as well as an internet connection.
In terms of the requirements of the components, you can look to the game/s you are looking to play to see what the minimum requirements are as well as the recommended requirement.
So, which are the most important parts??
- Graphics card – arguably the most important part of any gaming computer.
- CPU – since it handles all your computer’s operations.
- RAM – you’ll want at least 8GB for gaming, which should be sufficient for most people.
- Storage, Motherboard, Power Supply, & Cooling
- Monitor, Optical Drive – it’s up to you how much you spend in this area, but it’s not too critical to gaming performance.
