An off-duty cop shot a robber outside her child's school while attending a Mother's Day event.
A video of an off-duty cop shooting an armed robber is going viral in Brazil.
The Brazilian woman is a veteran officer who saw the man approach a group of moms and their children with a gun during a Mother’s Day celebration at a school.
The mom had gone to a Mother’s Day celebration at her daughter’s school in Suzano when the incident took place. A man holding a gun approached a group of women and children with intentions to rob them. The mom acted quickly and shot the suspect.
According to the Military Police, the 21-year-old suspect was carrying a .38 caliber revolver and had already approached other mothers awaiting the opening of the gate, as well as having searched the school’s security to see if they were armed.
Police also said that the suspect, who had already fired a shot that did not hit anyone, made a second attempt to fire, which failed. That was when the police officer approached the suspect. The suspect was taken to Santa Casa de Suzano but died later due to the injuries sustained.
The officer has been hailed a hero for her act of bravery and was honoured in a ceremony by the Sao Paulo Governor, Màrcio França, on Sunday.
