You can take this video as an instruction manual on how NOT to make your own homemade flamethrower, but why make one in the first place?

In the video, you see three men setting up a vacuum cleaner in their yard while preparing a can full of petrol.
The men then set the vacuum to blow out air and then they start pouring the fuel into the air stream before lighting it on fire.
The flame goes quite a distance before disaster strikes and one man’s pants catch fire, causing him to go hopping around.

After the man loses his pants and stamps out the fire, he is left standing in just his underwear.
