Shocking: The Caribbean Islands before and after Tropical Cyclone Irma
Updated | By Lethu Ndimande
The Category 5 storm has turned Caribbean paradises into abandoned wastelands after it ripped through the region.
Buildings have been reduced to nothing but foundations, roads left destroyed, and boats have been tossed and piled up by one of the strongest tropical cyclones ever recorded.
The video shows the devastation the storm has left in the Caribbean, with before and after footage of holiday destinations that have been completely destroyed.
According to telegraph.co.uk, an estimated 23 people have been confirmed dead on the islands and neighbouring regions.
The tropical cyclone made its last stop in Florida Keys, bringing with it winds of 130mph and high sea levels, telegraph.co.uk reported.
It's been reported that the storm has since become a category one storm, however a strong surge threat still remains. At least four people have been reported dead so far in Florida.
