People are eating raw, rotten meat to get high
Updated | By Mornings with Mack Rapapali
While we're all trying to survive a pandemic, there are people consuming rotten food on purpose.
The trend itself isn't new, but it's currently spreading.
The diet trend is apparently known as "high meat" and yes, it's spreading all over the internet and lots of people are participating. High meat is defined as any meat that has been left to decompose before being consumed.

People who consume 'high meat' apparently experience a feeling of euphoria that comes along with eating the decomposed meat.
It isn't exactly clear where the euphoria comes from but some describe the taste as cheesy and more acidic than the average fresh meat we're all used to.

If you're wondering about the dangers of consuming this sort of meat, eating raw meat isn't really harmful, most of us eat biltong and are just fine. There is a difference, however, between rotten and fermented meat: fermentation is a controlled process using specific environmental conditions to grow beneficial microorganisms with the meat; rotting is where the meat has spoiled and is contaminated with harmful microbial life.
Consumers of high meat report some serious upset stomachs, described as being "explosively incontinent", so yes it is quite dangerous to consume such. Acute food poisoning can leave you hospitalised and days of pain, nausea, and vomiting.
