Online gamers normally end up confused when it comes to the internet world, and many think 5G is the way to go. Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but you need a stable line.

5G vs Fibre 

"Fibre provides a more reliable connection that delivers through and through. 5G is a mobile technology that is dependent on towers and signal quality. A stable always-on connection is only possible via fibre. Also, ping times are lower with fibre," says Rean Pelser, President of the South African online gamers' federation.

Parents are always facing the 'ping & latency' conversation. Here's what it means:

Ping Times: Because I use clear access which is one of the most reliable fibres and being in an international gaming market, their fibre has by far the best ping times in RSA. As low as 3ms but always below 10ms. An acceptable ping is around the 40ms-60ms mark or lower. A speed of over 100ms shows a noticeable delay and over 170 some games will reject your connection entirely.
