We love escalators and the joy and convenience they bring, but sometimes, escalators can be quiet dangerous.

In 2015, a four-year-old boy died in China after being caught in an escalator.

In 2012, Mishke Roux, a six-year-old girl, lost three of her toes and a part of her foot during an escalator accident in Durban.

In recent news, hundreds of Philadelphia Flyers hockey fans were reportedly sent flying after an escalator at the Wells Fargo Center started malfunctioning.

This was after The Flyers' win against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.

The escalator's staircase abruptly sped up, and violently threw the fans off.

But for some on social media, the Flyers win is to blame for the escalator's behaviour.

"Escalator got a little excited about the flyers win too " said one fan, Meghan McGreevy, on Facebook.

According to reports, no one was injured and the escalator has reportedly been closed, with repairs underway.
