Bride-to-be asks if it's OK to put nine-year-old stepdaughter in shape-wear
A bride-to-be asked the world whether it's okay to dress her nine-year-old stepdaughter-to-be in shapewear for her wedding.
The question raised many brows as the child is only nine years old.
The bride first shared that she was struggling to find a dress that would fit the little girl as she was 'big'. “She’s a thick girl. I have tried ‘big girl youth sizes’ and nothing fits her,” she wrote. “I can’t really go to her mum because (of) the typical new woman situation.”
Facebook users slammed her for even suggesting this.
“She’s a plus-size kid. And her dress is a little snug. I figured why not try a body shaper to smooth out some of the edges to give that perfect fit.

“The dress cannot be taken out. And it is only snug in the waist area. Everything else fits perfectly. “Wedding is five days away.” the bride-to-be continued.
The post has since been deleted but according to 7news.co.au, some of the comments from the post read:
“This right here is one of the main reasons girls have low self-esteem. If their mothers don’t accept them, who will?” said one Facebook user.
While another added: “I can’t even begin to imagine the long term ramifications that is going to have on that child. I want to cry.”
One more Facebook user said: “Why people are so reluctant to buy the size that fits their kid. Stop taking your body issues out on your kids. It really messes them up.”
One Facebook user tried to defend the bride-to-be by saying she didn't think it was such a big deal but was quickly discouraged by other Facebook users.
“For a nine-year-old? That is a child. That’s how teenagers end up with eating disorders and body dysmorphia,” one of them wrote in response to the commenter.
“She’s nine. It’s never OK to put a child in Spanx - ever. End of story,” one of the commenters concluded.
