Nick from Rubber Duc on meditation, lockdown, and growth
Updated | By Danny Painter
He's the frontman of one of South Africa's most popular bands - Rubber Duc - he's an artist, a poet, and somewhat of a spiritual warrior.
His name is Nick Jordaan and you should kinda know who he is by now, especially since his band's song 'Talk About It' was last week's #JacaHotHit of the week - voted for by you!
It's a song written, recorded, and released during lockdown, with the entire band separated. It's an anthem for our generation, the millennials living through one of the most difficult and also weirdest moments in history. A time where our much loved 'hustle culture' has been taken away from us and our badges of burnout are no longer an honour.
Who are we and where we do we go from here? With lines like - 'All that we have worked for and achieved has us crashing to our knees' - this song hits differently.
Nick is also on a spiritual journey, posting in January that he planned to make 2020 his year of growth and reflection, both spiritually and physically. Obviously, I was intrigued.

Having watched his journey - from afar - for a while now, and seeing the positive and brutally honest way he posts about his thoughts, fears, and feelings through isolation, I had to get him on a Zoom call to find out how we too can find that peace and honesty within ourselves.
LISTEN: 'Shaking hands might be an artefact from the past' - Scott Clifton
We spoke about the band, the song, a lot about our millennial monk- Jay Shetty, and about his pathway to the light.
