Good Morning Angels: 'TULIP' lends a helping hand to future generations
Auto-X, manufacturers of Willard and Sabat vehicle batteries, has joined forces with 'TULIP' in order to help make a difference to the lives of students.

BACKGROUND:
The Tuks Leadership and Individual Program (TULIP) is a student-driven organisation at the University of Pretoria. 'TULIP' was founded in April 2016 and consists of Tuks students who tutor promising high school learners, in different subjects, on a voluntary basis. This year, they will tutor around 300 learners from two schools in Mamelodi and two schools in Laudium. TULIP’s aim is to make tertiary education more accessible for these handpicked learners. So far, 35 TULIP learners have successfully applied to tertiary institutions around the country.
The student volunteers attend the schools every Saturday to assist learners with a wide range of subjects.
One Saturday a month is dedicated to a variety of life skills, including banking, finding and applying for bursaries, and learnership programs, exploring and applying for university courses, and prepping for varsity acceptance entrance exams. The 'TULIP' volunteers give their own time, knowledge, and often resources - they even help to pay for the learner's entrance exams.
In short, 'TULIP' is in the business of giving hope #1EducationAtATime.
'TULIP’s vision is to:
1. Holistically and individually develop each of our learners to become changemakers in their own right.
2. Expand 'TULIP' as an organisation beyond the borders of Tuks, our province, and South Africa.
3. Create long-term relationships with corporate supporters.
4. Achieve leadership and team growth for the students who are serving this cause.
5. Uplift the communities we work in by creating an ever increasing number of functional and successful tertiary education participants #1EducationAtATime.
