Good Morning Angels: The Peace Lovers FC receives their club kit in legendary style
Good Morning Angels is celebrating the best of our youth with The Peace Lovers Football Club!
BACKGROUND: The Peace Lovers FC is a community football club from Kya Sands, managed and trained by local residents Kamogelo Mojela and Tshidi Mothiba. Kamogelo works as a cleaner in an office block and her husband, Tshidi, is a self-employed electrician, but their passion is the children in the community and soccer.
“Our team is made up of 20 high school boys who live around Kya Sands. These boys do not want to get involved in gangs and drugs. We live next to our community soccer field and the boys came to us and said they rather wanted to play soccer. That’s how the Peace Lovers FC started”, explains Kamogelo.
"All of us love soccer and our main aim is for the boys to have fun while being safe and healthy. But, we also teach them skills like communication, teamwork, discipline, and timekeeping,” adds Kamogelo.
Kamogelo is very proud of the boys and what they have achieved with the little they have. Now, they are ready to play in local community tournaments, which requires more than commitment - they needed a club kit, training equipment, transport, water, healthy snacks for the boys on game days, and some financial support for tournament fees. That’s why Kamogelo wrote to Good Morning Angels, to ask for assistance.
On 13 April Good Morning Angels assisted Kamogelo and the Peace Lovers FC with all they asked for - and Admiral jumped in with an extra training kit and balls.
On Wednesday, ahead of Youth Day, our special Good Morning Angels live broadcast is dedicated to the Peace Lovers FC. They will be playing their very first match in their new, specially designed team kit against the Jacaranda FM soccer team. In true Good Morning Angels style, there will be another surprise with some legends in SA football making their way to Discovery Soccer Park to witness, mentor, and support this young team, who has already inspired us all with their passion, commitment, and drive for a better future.
