Good Morning Angels: Helping little Alyssa with a potentially health risking birth mark

ANGEL 1: Johandie Slabbert on behalf of the Home Maker’s Expo Pretoria

SPONSORING: The Home Makers’ Expo Pretoria this past weekend, auctioned off two bars - championed by Rian and Martin. They’ve pledged the auction funds to Good Morning Angels and added some more to reach a total of R25 000,00 that they will donate towards the treatment of Alyssa’s Congenital melanocytic nevus.

SPONSORING:  If needed, the GMA Fund will add to the Home Maker’s Expo donation, if more funds are needed for the treatment of Alyssa’s Congenital melanocytic nevus (up to R25 000,00)  

SPECIAL ANGEL: Operation Healing Hands will arrange an appointment for Alyssa with a top skin cancer and plastic surgery specialist and will ensure that she gets the best diagnosis and treatment at the best possible rate. 

BACKGROUND: Little Alyssa is her mom, Chantelle’s youngest of four children. Alyssa is a beautiful, clever and bubbly two and a half years old. She was born with a little birth mark on the side of her face. This mark has grown bigger and bigger. it has also turned darker and recently hair started to grow out of the mark. Chantelle got very concerned when Alyssa started to complain that the mark hurt. She does not sleep on that side of her face - and when she does turn over during the night, she wakes up crying. Chantelle’s GP has diagnosed the mark as a Congenital melanocytic nevus. Only 1% of children are born with these, with 15% on the head or side of the face. The doctor advised Chantelle that this is not an ordinary mole and that they would have to consult  a specialist. Chantelle does not have a job and her partner ears a small income. They cannot afford medical aid or the R1500,00 consultation fee charged by their local specialist. With the procedure to remove Alyssa’s mark estimated to cost between R45 000,00 and R60 000 - they have no way of affording this treatment. Chantelle is very worried that her beautiful princess’ health could be in danger … and this is not even mentioning the reaction of other children when they see Alyssa’s growing birth mark.

Ek wil graag hoor of daar iemand is wat sal kan help met my kleindogter, Alyssa, vir operasie kostes aan haar gesiggie. Sy het 'n geboortevlekkie in haar gesig, op die wang regterkant, maar ook is daar soort van 'n moesie wat so 'n millimeter kleiner is in die geboortevlek, en daar groei swart hare uit die "moesie". Ook is daar 'n vorming van klein uitgroeisels (soos kleiner moesiese en vermeerder elke dag) binne-in die twee vlekkies. Die geboortemerk met die moesies word ook al hoe groter soos sy groei. Sy bly vat en vryf oor die ding in haar gesiggie, on weet nie of dit seer is of juk dit dalk. Sien op foto aangeheg, aan die regterkant van haar gesiggie.

Haar mamma wil dit graag laat verwyder, sy is bang dat dit dalk kwaadaardig kan wees of raak, en ook dat as sy begin skoolgaan die maatjies haar sal spot. 

Haar mamma, Chantelle, het nie 'n medies nie, (en medies sal nie betaal nie), want hulle sal dit op die stadium sien as 'n kosmeties prosedure. 

Hoop julle sal die aan iemand kan voorlê, wat kan help om die 2 jaar en 6maande oue poppie se probleempie te kan oplos.
